Guest - Ray Pachello - Social Worker
Ray gave a very good and informative overview on his role as a Social Worker. Some highlights follow.
Ray’s practice is based on four methodologies 1) direct clinical treatment 2) support groups, targeting very specific groups in the community 3) community mental health programs and 4) community change - i.e. advocacy within the system for people with mental health issues. He outlined various programs, such as Change Your Mind, Good Neighbours.  He has recently outlined a Marketing proposal to the Community Team designed to more effectively advertise programs for the community. In the future he hopes to move towards targeting more youth (16-25), peer support groups for caregivers, working with banks to help with money management and community collaboration with mental health services to strengthen these services. He feels that the Board could help by underwriting some of the cost associated with the Change Your Mind Program.

Ray was thanked for his very informative presentation.

6.0  Cobden Building Project - Izett met with Robert Keen of Infrastructure Ontario and John Jordan in order to provide information on the loan application, which John is in the process of completing.  If the criteria are met, funding could be available within 30 days.
